Model History and Information: McDonnell Douglas designed the F-15C Eagle for air superiority, pairing a powerful radar and twin engines with a large wing built for sustained high-g manoeuvring. Air National Guard units have long flown the type for continental air defence alongside their federal missions. The 173rd Fighter Wing, based at Kingsley Field in Klamath Falls, Oregon, began training Eagle pilots in 1998 with the F-15A and F-15B, upgrading to the F-15C and F-15D in 2004, and today serves as a formal training unit for Air Force and Air National Guard Eagle pilots.
