Model History and Information: The single-seat F-15J is Japan's principal air-superiority fighter, based on the F-15C and built under licence by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries; it entered service in 1981 and remains a mainstay of Japanese air defense. No. 303 Squadron, nicknamed the "Fighting Dragons," forms part of the 6th Air Wing at Komatsu Air Base and converted from the F-4EJ Phantom to the Eagle in December 1987. The squadron's role centers on air defense and quick-reaction alert over the Sea of Japan. This model represents an aircraft in that squadron's markings.
