Model History and Information: The 56th Fighter Wing at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona is the US Air Force's principal F-16 training establishment, graduating fighter pilots and air-control specialists year after year. A wing of its size keeps a commander's aircraft, a jet marked with the colours of the subordinate squadrons and reserved for the senior officer, and 89-2056 served in that role in 2009. Built to Block 42 standard, the aircraft was one of many Fighting Falcons the wing used to turn new and transitioning aviators into combat-ready F-16 pilots before the type began sharing Luke's ramp with the F-35.
