Model History and Information: Poland signed a contract on 31 January 2020 for 32 F-35A Block 4 aircraft under the Harpia program, replacing legacy Soviet-era Su-22 and MiG-29 fighters. The Polish Air Force publicly adopted the name Husarz, referencing the historic winged hussars, for its F-35 fleet. Deliveries and crew training are proceeding with US support, and the aircraft strengthen Poland's NATO air-defense posture on the alliance's eastern flank. The type brings low-observable design, sensor fusion and data-sharing capabilities new to Polish service.
