Model History and Information: The 354th Fighter Wing at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, operates the F-35A as part of Pacific Air Forces, having begun receiving the type in the early 2020s to bolster US presence in the Indo-Pacific and Arctic regions. Its Operations Group oversees the assigned fighter squadrons that fly and maintain the aircraft in demanding sub-Arctic conditions. Eielson's location supports rapid response, large-force exercises such as Red Flag-Alaska, and training in expansive northern airspace.
