Model History and Information: The 114th Tactical Fighter Training Squadron of the Oregon Air National Guard operated the F-4C Phantom II during the 1980s. In 1982 the US Air Force established an air-defense schoolhouse for Phantom crews at Kingsley Field, Klamath Falls, managed by the Oregon Guard under the 142nd Fighter Group at Portland. Training began in 1983, converting interceptor pilots onto the type before they joined operational air-defense units. The F-4C was the first Air Force production version of the Phantom, a two-seat, twin-engine, all-weather interceptor. Aircraft wearing these Oregon markings reflect the Guard's role as the Phantom air-defense training unit of that era.
