F-4J "Black Phantom" 153783, VX-4, US Navy, 1970

Product Dimensions: 9.70 x 6.40 x 2.70 in.

Model History and Information: The F-4 Phantom II crossed service boundaries that usually separated Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force equipment. VX-4, the Air Test and Evaluation Squadron at Point Mugu, evaluated weapons and tactics for naval aviation. Its striking black Phantom presentation made an already famous aircraft especially memorable. BuNo 153783 in the 1970 VX-4 marking represents the test-and-evaluation side of the Phantom story, not a conventional fleet deployment. The named serial, unit, date and finish on this model identify the individual historical subject represented: F-4J "Black Phantom" 153783, VX-4, US Navy, 1970.
