F-8E (FN) Crusader 39, Flotille 14, French Navy, June 1985
Product Dimensions: 9.08 x 5.94 x 2.62 in.
Model History and Information: France was the only export customer for the Crusader, ordering a navalised F-8E(FN) configuration adapted to its comparatively small aircraft carriers. Flottille 14F formed on 1 March 1965 as the second French unit to fly the type, and from 1968 the whole Crusader force was based at Landivisiau in Brittany, providing carrier detachments of up to ten aircraft. 14F relinquished its Crusaders in April 1979 to convert to the Super Étendard, while the remaining aircraft continued in the fleet air defence role. The last French Crusaders were retired in December 1999, after more than three decades of service. The named serial, unit, date and finish on this model identify the individual historical subject represented: F-8E (FN) Crusader 39, Flotille 14, French Navy, June 1985.
