Model History and Information: Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 112, the Cowboys, is the only fighter squadron in the US Marine Corps Reserve, flying the two-seat F/A-18D Hornet from Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, Texas. In August 2025 the squadron rolled out one of its Hornets in a striking commemorative scheme marking the 250th anniversary of the Marine Corps. Painted by the corrosion-control team at MCAS Beaufort, the jet, nicknamed 250, carries the Eagle, Globe and Anchor, a rendering of the Iwo Jima flag-raising on its tails and the Marines' Hymn along its spine. VMFA-112 continues to operate the legacy Hornet as the Corps moves to the F-35.
