The F/A-18F Super Hornet is a two-seat, twin-engine, carrier-capable multirole fighter jet. It is the most advanced derivative of the McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet. The Super Hornet was developed to provide the United States Navy and Marine Corps with an upgraded and more capable version of the F/A-18 Hornet. It is larger and more advanced than its predecessor, featuring improved aerodynamic performance, increased fuel capacity and more powerful engines. The F/A-18F Super Hornet is equipped with a wide range of advanced avionics, sensors and weapons systems, including the AN/APG-79 AESA radar, the AN/AAS-38A Nighthawk FLIR targeting system, and the AIM-120 AMRAAM and AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles. The aircraft is also capable of carrying a range of bombs, rockets and missiles. The F/A-18F Super Hornet is a highly capable fighter jet, and is an invaluable asset to the United States Armed Forces.
