Model History and Information: The Ford F-150 is the mid-weight model in Ford's F-Series pickup truck line, which began in 1948; the F-150 nameplate itself was introduced in 1975 as an intermediate step between the F-100 and F-250. It has been the best-selling vehicle in the United States since 1981. The current F-150 is offered with Regular, SuperCab and four-door SuperCrew cab styles, and a wide range of powertrains including naturally aspirated and turbocharged V6 and V8 engines, a hybrid gasoline-electric option, and the fully electric F-150 Lightning introduced in 2021.
