Ford Gt40 Mk.1 Dark Blue & Orange 1968
Product Dimensions: 8.89 x 3.89 x 2.22 in.
Model History and Information: Ford's GT40 program progressed from early unreliability to Le Mans dominance, taking a 1-2-3 finish in 1966 with the larger-engined Mk II. For 1968, new rules capped Sports-class engines at 5.0 litres, which excluded the Mk II and Mk IV but left the smaller-engined Mk I eligible; John Wyer's Gulf-backed team won that year's 24 Hours of Le Mans with a Mk I driven by Pedro Rodriguez and Lucien Bianchi, and the same chassis, P/1075, repeated the win in 1969. Road-going Mk I cars, softer-sprung and better trimmed than the racers, were also built in limited numbers. This model represents a 1968-specification GT40 Mk I finished in dark blue and orange.
