German Leopard 2 A7+ Main Battle Tank – Desert Camouflage (1:72 Scale)

Model History and Information: The 2A7+ is the Leopard 2 reworked for the kind of fighting Cold War tanks were never designed for, adding modular passive armour along the sides and rear against rocket-propelled grenades and shaped charges. Krauss-Maffei Wegmann first showed this upgrade in 2010 at the Eurosatory exhibition, applying the sand, ochre and brown striped scheme seen here to a technology demonstrator built to attract Middle Eastern buyers, not to represent an in-service German Army paint scheme. That marketing effort led to a Qatari order, with 62 Leopard 2A7+ tanks delivered between 2015 and 2018. The Bundeswehr itself later fielded the related Leopard 2A7, without the plus, from 2014.
