Model History and Information: This 1:72 scale Aviation Archive model replicates Gloster Meteor F.Mk.8 WH480/M, the personal aircraft of Squadron Leader John 'Dusty' Miller DFC during his command of No.41 Squadron at RAF Biggin Hill in the early 1950s. The Meteor was Britain's first operational jet fighter and the only Allied jet to see combat in the Second World War; by the early 1950s the improved F.Mk.8 had become the RAF's principal day fighter, defending British airspace through the early years of the Cold War. Biggin Hill, famous for its role in the Battle of Britain, remained one of the RAF's key fighter stations into the jet age, and Miller's brightly marked Meteor was among the most distinctive aircraft to fly from it.
