Grumman TBF Avenger - USA
Product Dimensions: 6.82 x 9.03 in.
Model History and Information: The Grumman TBF Avenger was the United States Navy's standard carrier-based torpedo bomber for most of the Second World War, and also served with the Marine Corps and Allied air arms. First flown in August 1941, it entered service in 1942 and made its combat debut at the Battle of Midway, where five of the six aircraft committed were lost. Despite that costly introduction, the rugged three-seat aircraft became the most widely produced torpedo bomber of the war, operating chiefly in the Pacific against enemy shipping. Examples assembled by General Motors' Eastern Aircraft Division carried the designation TBM, and nearly ten thousand were built before production ended.
