Model History and Information: The Royal Norwegian Air Force received 108 Freedom Fighters from 1966, using the type for interception, strike and reconnaissance during the Cold War standoff along NATO's northern flank. No. 336 Squadron, based at Rygge Air Station, was the first Norwegian unit to receive the F-5, taking its initial aircraft in February 1966, and it was also among the last to fly the type, remaining active until August 2000. This single-seat F-5A is shown in 336 Squadron markings from February 1998, late in the aircraft's operational life. By then the fighter role had largely passed to the F-16, but the durable little Northrop continued serving in secondary and training tasks until its retirement. The named serial, unit, date and finish on this model identify the individual historical subject represented: F-5A RNoAF 128, 336 Squadron, February 1998 (1:72 Scale).
