J-5 Jet Fighter 91820, PLAAF (1:72 Scale)
Product Dimensions: 7.2 x 7.2 x 2.6 in.
Model History and Information: The Shenyang J-5 was China's domestically produced copy of the Soviet MiG-17F, and marked an early milestone in the country's jet-aircraft industry. Manufacture began at Shenyang in the mid-1950s, with production of the J-5 and the later J-5A interceptor totalling several hundred aircraft before it ended in 1969. The aircraft was a transonic, swept-wing fighter powered by a single afterburning turbojet and fitted with a heavy cannon armament for its era. It formed a large part of the People's Liberation Army Air Force's fighter strength during the 1950s and 1960s and was later passed to other operators. A two-seat trainer derivative, the JJ-5, was also built.
