Model History and Information: The Bf 109G-5 was a pressurised-cabin variant of the Gustav series, produced from 1943. Jagdgeschwader 54, known as the Green Hearts, was a Luftwaffe fighter wing that fought predominantly on the Eastern Front, supporting operations in the northern Russian sector around Leningrad; during 1943 it began re-equipping with the Fw 190 while retaining Bf 109s in service.
