A-7D Corsair 70-0970, 354th TFW, 1970s
Product Dimensions: Pending manufacturer confirmation.
Model History and Information: The LTV A-7D was the US Air Force version of the Corsair II, entering service in 1970 with a single 20 mm M61 Vulcan cannon and an Allison TF41 turbofan. The 354th Tactical Fighter Wing at Myrtle Beach Air Force Base received its first A-7Ds in November 1970 and in October 1972 deployed squadrons to Korat Royal Thai Air Force Base, the type's first combat deployment to Southeast Asia. Serial 70-0970, marked MB for Myrtle Beach, is also the A-7D that Major Colin Clarke flew on 18 November 1972 on a rescue support mission that earned him the Air Force Cross; it is preserved at the National Museum of the US Air Force. This model represents that serial.
