J-11A, PLAAF, 33rd Fighter Division, 98th Air Regiment, 2015
Product Dimensions: 11.98 x 8.04 x 3.24 in.
Model History and Information: China's J-11A is a licensed derivative of the Sukhoi Su-27SK, built under a 1996 agreement with Russia that called for around 200 aircraft assembled domestically by Shenyang Aircraft Corporation from imported kits. Production began in 1997, initially requiring Russian assistance to complete early airframes, and by 2000 about five aircraft had been finished. The J-11A introduced Chinese-made cockpit displays and support for the R-77 air-to-air missile while keeping the Su-27SK's twin-engine, long-range air-superiority airframe. It marked an important step in the People's Liberation Army Air Force's shift toward domestically produced, modern twin-engine fighters.
