Model History and Information: The Mitsubishi F-2 was developed jointly by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Lockheed Martin from the F-16, with a larger composite wing, a lengthened fuselage and an active electronically scanned array radar. The single-seat F-2A is the Japan Air Self-Defense Force's primary anti-ship and ground attack fighter, and it has been cleared to carry the AAM-4 medium-range air-to-air missile and the supersonic ASM-3 anti-ship missile. The 8th Tactical Fighter Squadron flies the F-2A from Tsuiki Air Base in Kyushu.
