Model History and Information: The Tiger II combined a long 8.8 cm KwK 43 with heavy sloped armour and was intended to overmatch Allied tanks at long range. Its enormous mass, fuel use and mechanical demands limited how effectively the vehicle could be employed, especially during Germany's 1944-45 retreat. The usual collector term Henschel turret means the later production turret, although Krupp designed it. The 509th heavy tank battalion did use Tiger IIs in Hungary in 1945. The product's Eastern Front 1944 caption is not treated here as a verified unit-and-date claim.
