After extensive trials with pre-series vehicles, Krauss-Maffei was contracted for series production, and the first production tank was handed over to the troops on 9 September 1965. Between September 1965 and February 1970, a total of 1,845 Leopard 1 tanks were built for the Bundeswehr in four production lots, and the first lot was delivered by July 1966. Panzerbataillon 194 served within Panzergrenadierbrigade 19. Once the last vehicles of the first four lots had been delivered, the German Army began an upgrade programme that produced the Leopard A1, adding gun stabilization, armoured skirts along the hull flanks and a thermal sleeve on the gun barrel.

Model Features & Details:

1:72 scale Panzerkampf diecast model

Detailed cast-style turret with two roof hatches and a pintle-mounted machine gun

Long main gun barrel with fume extractor and dark muzzle end

Searchlight housing mounted above the gun mantlet, with cable detail

Grey cover over the gun mantlet

Turret rear stowage rack with storage bin

Tracks with detailed road wheels, drive sprockets and a weathered brown finish

Fender stowage with painted tools and tow cables

Engine deck grilles and detailed rear hull with red tail lights, stowage box and mudflaps

Front headlights with clear lenses

Single-tone green finish

Iron Cross national insignia with turret number 466 on both turret sides

Y-201 614 registration with German flag on the glacis and rear hull

Tactical unit sign for Panzerbataillon 194 on the front fender and rear hull

Packaging: Pending manufacturer confirmation.

https://motorcityclassicsinc.com/products/leopard-1-2nd-production-batch-german-army-panzer-battalion-194-y-201-614-466-munster-handorf-west-germany-1969
