The first series vehicle reached the troops on 9 September 1965, and by February 1970 four production lots totalling 1,845 tanks had been completed for the Bundeswehr, with a fifth and sixth lot following in the 1970s. Panzerbataillon 153 was formed under that designation in Koblenz in 1959 and belonged to Panzerbrigade 15. After the first four lots were delivered, the German Army launched an upgrade programme that led to the Leopard A1, adding a gun stabilization system, armoured skirts along the hull and a thermal sleeve on the barrel.

Model Features & Details:

1:72 scale Panzerkampf diecast model

Detailed cast-style turret with two roof hatches and a pintle-mounted machine gun

Long main gun barrel with fume extractor and dark muzzle end

Searchlight housing mounted above the gun mantlet, with cable detail

Grey cover over the gun mantlet

Turret rear stowage rack with storage bin

Tracks with detailed road wheels, drive sprockets and a weathered brown finish

Fender stowage with painted tools and tow cables

Engine deck grilles and detailed rear hull with red tail lights, stowage box and mudflaps

Front headlights with clear lenses

Single-tone green finish

Iron Cross national insignia with turret number 257 on both turret sides

Y-878 129 registration with German flag on the glacis and rear hull

Tactical unit sign for Panzerbataillon 153 on the front fender and rear hull

Packaging: Pending manufacturer confirmation.

https://motorcityclassicsinc.com/products/leopard-1-4th-production-batch-german-army-panzer-battalion-153-y-878-129-257-koblenz-west-germany-1972
