The first series vehicle was handed over to the Bundeswehr on 9 September 1965, and the design quickly drew orders from other NATO members. Belgium became the first export customer, receiving 334 Leopard 1BE tanks between 1968 and 1971. These tanks equipped eight Belgian tank regiments and the Armour School, and the 4th Lancers was the first regiment to receive the new type. From 1974 the Belgian vehicles were modified with a gun stabilization system and an automatic fire control system supplied by SABCA, allowing the main gun to fire effectively on the move.

Model Features & Details:

1:72 scale Panzerkampf diecast model

Detailed cast-style turret with two roof hatches and a pintle-mounted machine gun

Long main gun barrel with fume extractor and dark muzzle end

Searchlight housing mounted above the gun mantlet, with cable detail

Grey cover over the gun mantlet

Turret rear stowage rack with storage bin

Tracks with detailed road wheels, drive sprockets and a weathered brown finish

Fender stowage with painted tools and tow cables

Engine deck grilles and detailed rear hull with red tail lights, stowage box and mudflaps

Front headlights with clear lenses

Single-tone green finish

Front markings with number 027 and yellow bridge classification disc 40

Registration 54575 with unit insignia on the front and rear hull

Packaging: Pending manufacturer confirmation.

https://motorcityclassicsinc.com/products/leopard-1-belgian-army-landmacht-force-terrestre-4th-lancers-54575-027-soest-west-germany-1969
