The Royal Netherlands Army ordered 468 tanks from the fourth production series as a partial replacement for its Centurions, and the first was handed over at the end of 1969; the Dutch vehicles were built between October 1969 and March 1972. The 41st Tank Battalion, permanently stationed at Bergen-Hohne in West Germany from 1963, operated the Leopard 1 from 1971 until 1984, when it converted to the Leopard 2. During the 1980s the Dutch Leopard fleet went through an extensive improvement programme before the type was retired after the end of the Cold War.

Model Features & Details:

1:72 scale Panzerkampf diecast model

Detailed cast-style turret with two roof hatches and a pintle-mounted machine gun

Long main gun barrel with fume extractor and dark muzzle end

Searchlight housing mounted above the gun mantlet, with cable detail

Grey cover over the gun mantlet

Turret rear stowage rack with storage bin marked 13D

Tracks with detailed road wheels, drive sprockets and a weathered brown finish

Fender stowage with painted tools and tow cables

Engine deck grilles and detailed rear hull with red tail lights, stowage box and mudflaps

Front headlights with clear lenses

Single-tone green finish

White 41C and A34 markings on the glacis and rear hull

Yellow KU-94-51 registration plates and yellow bridge classification disc 40

Coat of arms insignia on the turret side

Packaging: Pending manufacturer confirmation.

https://motorcityclassicsinc.com/products/leopard-1-royal-netherlands-army-a-squadron-41st-tank-battalion-ku-94-51-13d-bergen-hohne-west-germany-1977
