Model History and Information: The F-16 began as a lightweight fighter demonstrator and became the most widely used western combat aircraft of its generation, flown by more than two dozen air forces. Its distinguishing features were unusual when it appeared: a frameless bubble canopy for all-round visibility, a side-mounted control stick, a reclined ejection seat to help the pilot under high load, and relaxed static stability with fly-by-wire controls, which let the airframe be deliberately unstable and therefore far more agile than a conventional design. The C model brought improved radar, avionics and engine options.
