Model History and Information: The Oshkosh M1070 is a U.S. Army heavy-equipment transporter tractor unit. Coupled with the M1000 semi-trailer, it was developed to move the M1 Abrams tank and other heavy military equipment. This 1:72 scale edition is finished in U.S. Army camouflage. Built by Oshkosh Corporation, the M1070 entered production in July 1992 as part of the Heavy Equipment Transport System, replacing the earlier Oshkosh M911 tractor. The original M1070 uses a Detroit Diesel 8V-92TA engine rated at 500 horsepower, while the later M1070A1 upgrades to a 700-horsepower Caterpillar C-18 diesel paired with an Allison automatic transmission. The companion M1000 trailer rides on 40 wheels across five axle lines and is rated to carry a payload of roughly 63,560 kilograms.
