Model History and Information: The M1A2 SEP v3, designated M1A2C by the U.S. Army, is an upgraded version of the General Dynamics Land Systems Abrams main battle tank. The System Enhancement Package improves electrical power generation and distribution, adds an ammunition data link for use with advanced 120mm ammunition, and brings a new armor package intended to increase protection against improvised explosive devices. The first tanks were fielded to the 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood, Texas, in July 2020. The 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, known as the Raider Brigade, received its modernized M1A2 SEP v3 tanks at Fort Stewart, Georgia, on January 5, 2023.
