McDonnell Douglas Phantom II FG.1, XV582 'Black Mike'

Model History and Information: Phantom FG.1 XV582 became one of the most recognizable Royal Air Force Phantoms after No. 111 Squadron at Leuchars selected it for a special gloss-black scheme in 1989. The livery honored the squadron's heritage, including the Black Arrows aerobatic team, which had flown black Hawker Hunters in the 1950s. Intended first for a static airshow appearance, the aircraft proved so popular that it continued as the squadron's display aircraft until its remaining flying hours were exhausted. Known as Black Mike for its black finish and squadron letter M, XV582 made its final flight on September 22, 1990.
