Model History and Information: In the Korean War the Chinese People's Volunteer Air Force did not fight alone. Chinese, North Korean and Soviet MiG-15 units operated in a co-ordinated effort over the Yalu, sharing tactics and bases while the Soviet role was kept unofficial. From the airfields of the Antung complex just inside China, waves of MiG-15bis fighters could be sent against United Nations formations and then rotated to rest their crews. This arrangement let the young Chinese air force gain hard combat experience quickly. This model depicts a Volunteer Air Force MiG-15bis of that period, when China was building the foundations of what became the People's Liberation Army Air Force.
