Model History and Information: The Korean War produced China's first generation of jet-age fighter pilots, and a few became celebrated aces on the MiG-15bis. The best known, Wang Hai, was credited with nine aircraft destroyed or damaged and later rose to command the People's Liberation Army Air Force. Pilots like him flew the swept-wing MiG against United Nations formations over MiG Alley, learning group tactics in hard combat with the F-86 Sabre. Their experience shaped the post-war Chinese air force. This model represents a Chinese People's Volunteer Air Force MiG-15bis of the period, in the markings such fighters wore over the Yalu front.
