Model History and Information: France created the Mirage 2000N for the nuclear-strike mission, adapting the Mirage 2000 airframe to carry the ASMP stand-off missile at low altitude. E.C. 2/4 La Fayette at Luxeuil was one of the units associated with that deterrent role. The N was not a simple interceptor repaint: its mission, crew arrangement and equipment reflected a specialised strategic task during the late Cold War and after. That distinction is central to the story behind this particular 2004 French Air Force edition.
