Model History and Information: Giora Epstein, nicknamed Hawkeye, remains the Israeli Air Force's highest-scoring ace and is widely regarded as the top-scoring jet ace in aviation history, credited with 17 aerial victories. Flying the Mirage IIICJ Shahak with 101 Squadron, he scored his first kill on 6 June 1967 during the Six-Day War, downing an Egyptian Su-7 near El Arish. Four further victories in the 1969-70 War of Attrition made him an ace; the remaining twelve came in the 1973 Yom Kippur War. The single-seat Mirage IIICJ was Israel's first Mach 2 interceptor, delivered from 1962 and central to the 1967 air campaign. Epstein later flew airliners; he died in 2025.
