Model History and Information: The Cascadia is the most numerous Class 8 truck on North American roads: more than a million have been sold since it was introduced in 2007. Freightliner unveiled the fifth generation on 15 October 2024, with production starting in mid-2025. It carries Detroit DD13 and DD15 engines rated up to 505 horsepower, with natural gas options following, and a reworked safety suite built around a new camera, four short-range radars and an improved long-range radar. A brake-by-wire control system with pneumatic backup and lane-keeping that can bring the truck to a stop if the driver stops responding are part of the package.
