Model History and Information: The NF-5A was the single-seat version of the Canadair-built Northrop F-5 supplied to the Royal Netherlands Air Force; seventy-five were produced in Canada. The Netherlands received its first aircraft in 1969, with deliveries running to March 1972, and operated the type as a light supersonic fighter-bomber. Four squadrons flew it: 313 and 315 at Twenthe, 316 at Gilze-Rijen and 314 at Eindhoven. From 1986 the units began converting to the F-16, and the last NF-5 stood down in 1991. Many surplus airframes were later sold to Turkey and Venezuela.
