Model History and Information: The Type 08 family, developed by Norinco and sometimes called Snow Leopard in Western references, is an eight-wheeled amphibious platform built around a common chassis that carries very different weapons across more than twenty known derivatives. The infantry fighting vehicle mounts a 30 mm autocannon with a coaxial machine gun and anti-tank missiles on the turret sides, while the assault gun variant moves the engine to the rear to make room for a 105 mm rifled gun able to fire fin-stabilised armour-piercing rounds and gun-launched guided missiles. The International Institute for Strategic Studies' Military Balance 2024 recorded more than 5,950 Type 08 vehicles in People's Liberation Army service.
