Model History and Information: Porsche enlarged the 930 Turbo's flat six from 3.0 to 3.3 litres for the 1978 model year, boring each cylinder out to 97 mm and lengthening the stroke, and added an air-to-air intercooler that sharply reduced charge temperature. Output rose to around 300 horsepower, and the familiar whale tail rear spoiler was reprofiled and raised to make room for the new intercooler. Braking came from cross-drilled ventilated discs derived from the 917 racing programme, with four-piston alloy calipers. The 3.3-litre Turbo stayed in production until 1989, one of the longest unbroken runs of any European performance car, with roughly eighteen thousand built.
