Model History and Information: Porsche returned to top-tier endurance racing with an LMDh prototype developed from 2020 in partnership with Team Penske. Built around a spec LMP2-based carbon-fibre monocoque supplied by Multimatic, it was announced in December 2020 and is eligible for both the FIA World Endurance Championship's Hypercar class and IMSA's GTP category. Power comes from a twin-turbocharged 4.6-litre V8 paired with a standardized hybrid system, producing roughly 500 kW (680 hp). The car made its competitive debut at the 2023 Rolex 24 at Daytona, extending the legacy of the Group C 962. Customer teams also campaign the design in international endurance competition.
