Model History and Information: Renault built the Clio Williams in 1993 as a homologation-inspired hot hatch for rallying. Its 2.0-litre engine, widened track and distinctive blue-and-gold presentation made it an icon of the 1990s European performance-car scene. Named for Renault's Formula One partner Williams, constructors' champions the year before, the car paired a 150 hp 2.0-litre engine with gold-coloured alloy wheels. The first 3,800 cars were individually numbered, well beyond the 2,500 units needed for rally homologation; demand led to two further production batches under the same name, taking total production to 12,200 cars by 1995.
