Model History and Information: The Panther Ausf.G, built from March 1944 to April 1945 by MAN, Daimler-Benz and Maschinenfabrik Niedersachsen Hannover, was the most numerous Panther version, with roughly 2,950 hulls completed. Compared with the earlier Ausf.D and A, it deepened the ammunition sponsons to hold 24 rounds per side rather than 18, for a total of 48 rounds instead of 36. Early-production G hulls carried over the gun-mantlet and cupola arrangement used on the Ausf.A. The tank kept the high-velocity 7.5 cm KwK 42 L/70 gun, interleaved road wheels on torsion-bar suspension, and sloped frontal armour, qualities that made the Panther Germany's most capable mass-produced tank of the war.
