SR-71B "1000th FLT." 17956, USAF, 15th Jan 1982
Product Dimensions: Pending manufacturer confirmation.
Model History and Information: The SR-71B was the two-seat trainer version of the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird, recognizable by a raised rear cockpit for the instructor. Only two were built, and serial 61-7956 was the one that survived; the other was lost in 1968. Built in 1965 and flown from Beale Air Force Base, California, it logged its 1,000th sortie in January 1982. The aircraft later served NASA at the Dryden Flight Research Center at Edwards Air Force Base as NASA 831, used as a crew trainer and for some high-speed research between 1991 and 1999. It left Edwards in March 2003 for the Kalamazoo Air Zoo in Michigan.
