StuG III Ausf. G Sturmgeschütz Abt. 201 Eastern Front 1944
Product Dimensions: 3.70 x 1.61 x 1.18 in.
Model History and Information: By 1944 the StuG III Ausf.G had evolved far beyond the short-gunned assault vehicle of 1940. The long 7.5 cm StuK 40 let it destroy tanks as well as engage fortifications, while its fixed casemate kept the silhouette low and production cheaper than a turreted tank of similar firepower. Built on the Panzer III chassis by Alkett and later MIAG, the Ausf.G added a cast commander's cupola in place of the earlier vision-slit hatch. Across all versions, close to 10,000 StuG IIIs were built, more than any other German armoured fighting vehicle of the war, and the type served as both assault gun and tank destroyer on every front.
