Model History and Information: The Su-27UB is the two-seat combat-capable trainer of the Su-27 family, entering Soviet service in 1986. It retains the single-seat fighter's full airframe and weapons systems rather than a reduced-performance trainer layout, letting instructor and student fly the same intercept and air-combat profiles as an operational unit. Ukraine's 831st Tactical Aviation Brigade, based at Myrhorod Air Base in Poltava Oblast, operates the Su-27UB alongside single-seat Su-27s and has flown combat sorties during the war with Russia that began in 2022.
