Model History and Information: When China ordered the Su-30MKK it wanted more than an air-superiority fighter: the aircraft was tailored for strike work, able to carry a heavy and varied load of guided and unguided weapons against targets on land and at sea while retaining the Flanker's air-combat strength. Two crew, powerful radar and long range made it well suited to reaching distant objectives, and it broadened the reach of the People's Liberation Army Air Force considerably after entering service from December 2000. By 2014, when this aircraft is depicted, the Su-30MKK was firmly established in Chinese service and had helped pave the way for later, domestically built members of the Flanker family.
