Model History and Information: The Su-35 is a heavily upgraded, 4.5-generation development of the Su-27 Flanker, designed by Sukhoi to bridge the gap until Russia's fifth-generation fighter entered service. Powered by thrust-vectoring engines and fitted with the N035 Irbis-E radar, it offers long range, a heavy weapons load and exceptional manoeuvrability. The modernised design was unveiled in 2007 and began flight testing in February 2008 with Sukhoi's chief test pilot Sergey Bogdan. A small batch of prototypes, bort numbers 901, 902 and 904, was built between 2007 and 2009 to prove the aircraft. This model depicts prototype 904 in the early flight-test scheme, before the type entered production as the Su-35S.
