US M1296 Stryker ICV Dragoon 2nd Cav. Germany 2020

Model History and Information: The Dragoon came out of an urgent lethality-upgrade request from the 2nd Cavalry Regiment, the American unit permanently stationed in Germany, whose Strykers carried only a .50 caliber machine gun. The US Army approved the upgrade in April 2015, the first prototype, designated XM1296, was delivered for testing in October 2016, and the first production vehicles reached the regiment in December 2017, with fielding continuing into 2018. The 30 mm Mk44 Bushmaster II autocannon sits in an unmanned remote turret and can engage targets at ranges the earlier .50 caliber mount could not reach. Eighty-one Dragoons were fielded to the regiment, making up half of its rifle and scout platoon vehicles and closing the gap between the standard Stryker APC and the 105 mm-armed Stryker Mobile Gun System.
